Outsourcing and places like Fivver have really put the squeeze on the freelancer. I find it hard to believe that some of these companies actually have the nerve to offer $3-5 USD an hour for a freelancer with a 4 year degree in thier profession. Sadly there are far too many people taking these jobs. Most live in countries that have a very low cost of living. Some savvy freelancers that are hired in the higher paying positions use these people to do thier work for them. They may have to do a bit of editing, but what a racket? This leaves guys like me with a lot of student debt scrapping to get by. Yea, I know this all sounds a little negative, but the reality is that I feel I have wasted my time and money on a formal education just to starve. I recently had an experience where a guy actually told one of my customers that he would have done it all for free, really? I did not make much money off the job anyway, but then to have the customer come to me like I ripped him off? This really sucks!! (Note; this is a non-spell checked rant)
