What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Wikipedia’s definition of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is  “The process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s unpaid results – often referred to as ‘natural’, ‘organic’, or ‘earned’ results. ”

The search engine results page is divided into two parts: Paid search results and Organic search results. SEO is about reaching high rank in the organic section of the result page.

The one thing that many people don’t understand about the SEO industry is that it’s ever changing. Techniques that worked 5 or even 2 years ago are no longer relevant.

There are a few general guidelines that have been proven as the most effective over the years.
